Newton Gems« Back to Projects Listing | Print
The landscape design for Newton Gems is based on a strong geometric wave pattern, that creates a distinctive image and character for the project. The wave patterning is carried throughout the landscape in the planting beds, the hardscape paving of the pool deck, walkways, and driveways, and in the pool tiling patterns. This patterning enhances the visual experience at the ground level, and also when viewed from the units above.

One of the distinctive features of this project is the lobby entrance at the basement level where the patterning from the deck above extends down. Voids above allow natural light into the basement drop-off lobby garden with planting and reflecting pools to provide a welcoming entrance experience. Further enhancing this experience, a shallow reflecting pool made up of a thin layer of water supported on a glass surface hovers over the entrance to the basement lobbies. As the sunlight refracts through the glass, moving patterns of light and shadow are created on the landscape below.
