One George« Back to Projects Listing | Print
One George Street is a 23 storey commercial development of Class A Office Rental space. With the architecture conceived as an 18M elevated box of different sized voids sliced into its volumetric mass from each façade at different levels, opportunities for the integration of garden elements in the vertical dimension of the built form, leading to a successful fusion of landscape and architecture in a highly urban context, was achieved.

The major statements in the landscape occur on the ground plane and on Level 5, where all the garden voids are conceived of as fluid forms within a landscape canvas of grey (stone), brown (timber), green (planting) and blue (water). Amongst the 18M tall columns, landscape mounds with Melaleuca trees and 9M tall glass columns with programmed jets float on a raised steel reflecting pool.

Another 18M higher on approximately half the total area of the site, the landscape on Level 5, is truly a garden in the sky, with similar forms as that of the ground, but different in character and feel. A shallow stream meanders from the garden entrance and becomes the swimming pool at the other end, where the view opens up to the skyline beyond. Tropical, lush and tall rain forest trees are randomly scattered within the space to weave in and out of the building columns. Large landscape mounds flow fluidly with attractive visual contrast achieved by masses of different plant color juxtaposed against each other.
