The Edge on Cairnhill« Back to Projects Listing | Print
The landscape design for The Edge on Cairnhill is based on clean geometric lines and arcs, that create a distinctive boutique image and character for the project. Architecture and Landscape are conceived of as a series of concentric rings emerging from the centre of the site. The clean lines of glass and steel in the architecture are reflected and executed in the landscape in stone and steel.

The centre of the site is a void around which are ringed three residential towers. The towers have their base at 3 different levels that face the centre cascading pool which ties the three levels together and is conceptualized as a series of water planes. The landscape is a series of intimate outdoor spaces in sweeping arcs that wrap around each of the three towers with the landscape elements at the two opposite ends of the site at greatly differing levels designed to fit the steep nature of the site. Landscape waterwalls of cascading heights were used to mitigate the problem of natural ventilation for the full basement and steeply sloping site edges while serving not to compromise the aesthetics of the space.
