Singa Plaza, Suzhou« Back to Projects Listing | Print
The landscape design for Singa Plaza Residential Development is orchestrated by a series of checkered grid lines that defines each individual activity and outdoor space stretching three tower blocks. It is designed to house a wide range of activities and programs that engages the users in a variety of experiences in an aesthetically stimulating environment. The outdoor spaces are linked together by a series of trellises which provide a continuous network of shaded shelters. Linear vistas of palm trees re-enforce the checkered grid pattern which are sequenced with the solids and voids in the feature blade wall.

To animate the entrance plaza, water bubbler jets and reflective water ponds are created within the grid pattern. Palm trees are arranged in line with the water pond to add depth and scale to the entrance plaza. The checkered pattern is further enhanced by the shrub planting and paving layout along the commercial promenade. Planting is more naturalistic in character at the peripheral edges of the site and in one area a winding path is intertwined with rustic boulders and rockwork. Materials have been selected for attractive color juxtapositions while keeping hard-wearing durability in mind.
